NEWS BRIEF: Recent Archeological Discoveries in Egypt

As you would expect, there’s a never ending stream of discoveries coming out of Egypt. Here are a few of the latest (click on the headline to follow the link):

A beautiful, 12-foot tall quartzite statue of Queen Tiye has been found intact at the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III (next to the "Colossi of Memnon").

The largest pharaonic era fort ever discovered has been found in the northern Sinai at Tell-Huba. The site has a moat, brick walls 42 feet thick, and 24 watch towers,

An ancient mud-brick city, revealing details of everyday life, has been uncovered near Edfu. Normally it is temples and tombs that come to light – perhaps skewing our picture of the past – so this huge find is even more important as a result.
